Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy to Get You Out of Pain and Feeling Great Again.

I’m down to earth, practical, no nonsense type of therapist and I live by what I teach.

My life consists of listening my body 24/7 and honouring the natural flow of life.

As a therapist, my main aim is to help you to fix the cause that is leading to your pain. Part of this is to give you advice of the potential problem so that you can catch it before it has a negative impact in your life. I also will guide you to learn to listen to your body and live in a way that minimises the pain and suffering.

I offer three different types of massages. Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, Sports & Remedial Massage and No Hands Massage.

I will work with you to determine the best type of massage to help address your particular issue or type of pain.

If you would like to book a massage or get more information please call or email me in the form at the bottom of this page.

Sports and Remedial Massage

Sports massage is a form of deep tissue massage which is aimed for anyone, not just sports people. It can have several benefits to your everyday life and well being. For sports people, massage can play an important part in the life, whether they are injured or just want to maintain healthy muscle balance and prevent injuries. I use a combination of techniques based on my clients individual needs:

  • Deep tissue massage
  • Trigger point therapy
  • Neuromuscular techniques
  • Soft tissue manipulation
  • Myofascial release
  • General body massage

Sports Massage has many many benefits…..some of them are:

  • Helps maintain the body in generally better condition
  • Increases flexibility
  • Increases blood flow
  • Prevents injuries and loss of mobility
  • Decreases recovery time between workouts
  • Increases elimination of toxins (i.e. lactic acid)
  • Decreases muscle tension
  • Relieves stress
  • Reduces pain
  • Cures and restores range of motion to injured muscles or joints
  • Prevents Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness
  • Extends the overall life of your sporting career
  • Boosts performance

Nurturing No Hands Massage

This nurturing massage is based on the NO HANDS® techniques. This massage is deep, relaxing, rejuvenating and nourishing. It is a dynamic form of Massage that is sweeping the world as one of the most powerful new therapeutic treatments available. It was conceived and developed by UK therapist Gerry Pyves after 20 years of clinical testing.

It is Massage that works – on every level:

  • Physical
  • Energetic
  • Emotional
  • Mental
  • Spiritual

Powerful Yet Gentle Treatment

It works because we literally do not use our hands, but instead we use the soft surfaces of our forearms. This means it is both deeper and more relaxing than conventional Massage.  For this reason it has been called the Gentle Giant of Massage. This is Massage for life, not just for the odd injury or occasional pampering, but Massage to help your journey through life.

Words and pictures cannot do justice to the power of this ‘New Massage’ – you can only understand it by feeling it.

NO HANDS Massage is deeper and more effective than you ever thought possible. This is why NO HANDS Massage has now become the Massage treatment of choice for many professional Massage therapists – because they know! The Massage is so powerful that you will feel the benefits long after the session has finished. No more ‘skin polishing’, no more dis-comfort and no more painful or intrusive techniques.  Only deep, gentle, powerful touch.

Sports Massage FAQs

How does sports and remedial massage differ from normal massage?
Sports and Remedial massage is aimed to treat specific injuries, muscle imbalances or areas of pain that are crying for attention. I also treat the body simply as whole, but applying techniques with your goals in mind..
I don’t do sports – can I still have a Sports Massage?
I get many people coming to me who don’t do any sports, and have overuse injuries for example due to their work – whether it’s manual work or sitting in an office most day. Injuries can occur in everyday life and are generally brought on by the things we do repetitively everyday.

I can use this deep massage to treat you and look at what day to day activities could be the cause and can give you simple solutions to help with this. Even making a few small changes can have a big effect.

Does sports massage hurt?
Yes and no. When deep pressure is applied it can feel sensitive especially in the areas that require treatment.

Everyone tolerates pain differently, and as a therapist I will work with you to regulate the techniques and intensity to get the muscle tissue to respond to the treatment within your comfort zone. I don’t want you to feel that the treatment is either unbearable or not effective enough, because this does not bring results – you know your pain tolerance better than me and I am more than happy to ease up on your request.

What should I wear?
I use towels during the treatment and require that you keep your underwear on. You can bring a pair of loose shorts too especially if I will be treating legs.
How often should I have Sports Massage?
If time and money weren’t a problem, every week. But the reality is that for many people they are. So if you are on a budget and treating yourself to a massage, then (as a sports enthusiast) I would suggest having a treatment when ever you can (maybe monthly).

If you’re training for something specific, then definitely (about a week) before your event so you are ready to compete.

If you get regular massages, that’s always better – always remember to keep your goals in mind.

Why Massage?

Pain. Why are we in pain?

I believe our bodies are more intelligent than what we give them credit for. So many people live too much in the mind, which restricts the body’s ability to function in it’s full freedom and therefore limits our potential leading to pain, injuries, bad posture and so on.

I have discovered for myself that becoming more in tune with my body I’ve been able to become more relaxed, healthier and feel better overall.

As a personal trainer and someone who has been passionate about body and exercise for several years, I’ve learned many ways in which you can take care of your muscles, joints & energy levels.

This is directly linked to how you’ll feel emotionally and mentally.

My aim is to make you feel better. This means that in addition to regular treatments want to give you practical information about YOUR body, exercises, stretches, nutrition and anything that you want to take away from the sessions to help you feel better in your body.

I want each session to help you feel better and enable me see the change and progress you make so I can continue giving you appropriate advice if needed.

Note: It isn’t often that people ask, but I feel the need to say right here right now that I DO NOT offer any kind of sexual services, only professional body treatments that are aimed to transform you from pain to relaxation and freedom of movement. So in case it crossed your mind, this statement saves you a phone call.  🙂
